i dunno about release build an debug build but memory leaks are something like the memory locations that are not referred that is for example if a pointer is assigned an memory but after it is changed to some other reference then the previous memory that the pointer being referred is lost but not freed from the memory this is called memory leak.

A release build would generally have symbols stripped off and log levels are generally low.
