Again gods kill seven kittens for asking a retarded Microsoft question.

I'd walk out of the room rather than answer this stupid question. Does this question give you any motivation to solve it? If someone asks this question then understand how smart their team is. Not worth working for a dumb team, you wont learn anything

You don't really understand how interview process works.

No question which shows how a person might think is dumb. Only the narrow minded people who refuse to think about them are (note: think about them, not _answer_ them).

F**king Idiot.

Am a Bing idiot :))
Bing killed little search companies (i.e. ask.com, yahoo search)
"money.cnn.com/2011/09/20/technology/microsoft_bing/index.htm?source=cnn_bin"

"Use linked lists, build bing, that is my thing" :D

As per the question, there is nobody inside the room, except you. Then we can except someone outside the room. Open the window and ask somebody :)

The point of this question is to see how you think. Information has been left out deliberately.

If you say, open window and ask somebody, the response will likely be, you cannot open the window. Then what do you do?

It is ok if you get stuck at some point.

You can't help it. They can damn well ask any question they please. It might be stupid of them (to potentially turn away great candidates), but if you really want the job, it would be stupid of _you_ not to try prepare for questions you don't like. In fact, the questions you don't like (or are weak) you ought to pay more attention to.

btw, I believe Microsoft in US stopped asking questions like these. The "location asked" of this question was Pakistan at some point, but who knows.

If this was really asked, then this should be posted and would be useful to someone who does get asked this. If you don't want to think about it, don't. No point making comments like these...
