Note that the additive increase multiplicative decrease rate mechanism of TCP will assume there is severe congestion when it observes random packet drops because of the wireless channel and it will react by halving its window. Derivatives of the standard (read Reno) TCP are developed for the wireless case. Another scenario is the high delay bandwidth product scenarios such as satellite network in which the RTT is very high. There are solutions for this as well.
