@vikdp01:simple code -allocate memory dynamically for new char pointer Z for memory size of strlen(string X)+i.....then simply use strcpy(z,x)...till length then strcat(z,y)till i length

strcpy(STRINGZ, strcat(STRINGX, STRINGY+i));

strcat can be used. Write the char in some buffer using sprintf and then use strcat
