- First thing is to locate the problem i.e find the module if it's monolithic service or specific service if it's a SOA architecture.
- Ensure database is consistent.
- Debug the application code.
- If problem persists then go for client side.

Test with invalid user name and invalid passowrd.
Test with valid user name and wrong passowrd.
Test with wrong user name and correct passowrd.
Test without user name and password.
Test with minimum number of characters for user name/password length
Test with maximum number of characters for user name/password length

The problem may be in differente areas:
- Check connection with directory
- Check connection with data base
- Check any problem with API for Authentication (if exist)

To isolate the problem, you must know the system perfectly.
