1 hour degree is 360/12 = 30
15 minutes(quarter) degree is (1 hour degree)/4 = 30/4 = 7.5
3:15 is the same as only 15 minutes degree as :15 is the same place as 3: .
So the answer is 7.5 degree

The minute hand will be exactly at 3 , while the hour hand will be slightly away from 3 , now in 60 minutes the hour hand covers ( 360/12)=30 degrees , so in 15 minutes it will cover (30/4)= 7.5 degrees and this will be our answer.
