I am not sure if i understood your question correctly.

But if there are more than one application accessing the singleton class, only 1 instance of the class will be created and then that instance will be passed onto the other application by reference.

So both the application will be working on the same instance.

If there are 2 seperate applications and accessing the dll containing the singleton class then both these applications will load the dll seperately. Therefore nothing will happens. Both will have its own singleton object

1) I don't think this is an ebay interview question.
2) Each application will execute in its own JVM. So I guess they both will get different copies of the singleton instance.
