Argus Interview Question for Software Engineer / Developers

Take one rope connect both ends. Ignite the connection point and one end of the other rope at the same time. When the looped rope burns out, it is 30 mins. Then ignite the unburned end of the remaining rope. When the remaining rope burns out, it is another 15 mins. So it is 45 mins.

It is not clear. It is mentioned that ropes burn non-uniformly => even if yo loop a rope and burn , time <> 30 min.
However, if it is uniform then I agree.

Secondly, When first rope burn and half of second rope burns in 30min then how come remaining burnt portion of second rope takes 15min ???

The first looped rope definitely takes 30 minutes to burn if lit at both ends, irrespective of whether or not it is uniform. For the second rope, after the first burns out, immediately take the second one, loop it, and then light the connection point. That will be 15 minutes.
