The Oculus Rift, if the developers ever solve the peripheral blurring problem in the commercial model. 1st person Horror and Shooter titles are already perfect candidates for a port to the Oculus Rift.

The next breakthrough will need to wait a while lol.

Oculus Rift -.-? You are not serious are you? That the same kind of useless hype as 3D cinema. The whole technology is broken and I need a gag bin all the time I watch 3D.

If anything holograms will be meaningful but thats still at least 10-20 years away.

If anything, then the next breaktrhough will be realtime raytracing. There are a lot of early steps and they look primising especially when paired with Nvidia Tesla or Intel Phi. That and more than one polygon per pixel. That's both what's coming next. All the 3D & senses and stuff is for whatever hype people ;). That's no breakthrough at all. Maybe in 20-30 years. But right now its just a toy, nothing more.

And with all the excitement I forgot... Occulus Rift is nothing new. They had the very same toy at Carnegie Mellon University 20 years ago and at Disney Studios too. And the irony about it is that occulus Rift so far has managed to have the same visual quality they had back then xD.
