Hi Sach,

I had a phone interview with Qualcomm last week and have not heard from them about the next step. How long after the first phone interview they contacted you for the second/on-site interview?

QC has many interesting positions. Did they mention how many interns they're planning to hire?

I have phone interviewed with Qualcomm for two different positions. The first one was about a month back and its been three weeks since the second one. I havent received any feedback about both interviews till now from them. I guess if they like you, you are immediately called for the next interview otherwise they keep you on hold , looking for someone better.
Ihave sent several mails to the recruiter but to no avail...

I had been to about five in house interviews with Qualcomm in the past three years. Their questions can vary by department, but they are quite comprehensive. The in-house (second stage) interviews take all day and after interviewing with them all other interviews after that seem so easy.

A note about the phone interview: Not usually too technical, just a few questions to see if you really know what you are talking about.
If the manager is doing the phone interview and says he will bring you in, then you can definately expect to come in (unless he found the perfect candidate in between).
If a HR rep or engineer is performing the interview and they offer a recommendation for a second in-house interview then there are no guarantees.
If you are not sure then email the HR office, they have a list of who is coming in (they should updated at least once a week).
If you get an email from HR about being offered an in-house interview the process can take 1 to 8 weeks depending on how quickly they need to fill a position or if they are serious about hiring someone (QComm sometimes interviews just to keep abreast of some of the talent out there).

A note about in-house interviews (I have been lucky not to experienced this but I ran into others who have): Apparently if they don't seem to think you fit, or for whatever reason, you will be told at some point that the engineers have a meeting to go to (someone once told me they heard the director wasn't in) and you will probably exit the interview early. If Qualcomm is serious about you then you will probably complete the interview -> I have had one instance where they had to change an engineer in the interview due to double booking with another candidate, but I always completed the interview.

Hello,Dave,
Did you finally get the offer of qualcomm?
I had a on-site interiview few days ago and it includes 7 technical interviews and 1 HR
interview, which is at the end of the day. At the end of the day,the HR lady asked me about salary expected and when I will be available. But it has been almost one week since the interview, I haven't gotten any result from her. I am working at a small company and also doing my Master part-timely. I don't know if the Master degree matters or not as I have not completed the degree and my BS degree is from a Chinese University. The HR lady asked me when I can finish my Master and I told her that it will be finished in this year and she told me it will be better if I could finish it within two weeks.

The coding questions at the interview is not that difficult(I was asked to reverse a link list and insert a node to BST). But there are a lot of networking questions about TCP/IP(sliding window and state machine). Also they asked me about the stack/heap/stack frame.

I had an interview for Qualcomm 2 weeks back. It was purely C and data structures. And they tested the very basic stuff and thorough knowledge of data structure concepts. They also asked me questions on OS like semaphores, mutex and context switching. But, if the requirements of the position says .NET then, I guess you should be prepared to know all the basic concepts in .NET. I have also posted the questions in the interview section. Hope this helps.

Yes, they did mention in the requirements about OS and data structures. There were a lot of questions on the projects too. And 2-3 coding questions (basic programs) overall. Asked me to write a program to check if a given string was a palindrome.

Had my phone round with QCOM and now prepping for the in-house round. Phone interview was with a staff engineer and it was basic knowledge based questions. The position was software engineer. some C stuff, C++ stuff pass be reference , pass by value type queswtions.

He asked me some on CDMA since my BS was in telecom. Difference between CDMA 1X and 1XEV-DO ( based on physical layer)?
the Answer is that EV-DO used Time division multiplexing .

Questions on past projects.
They told me at the end of the interview that they would want to bring me in for on-site interview.

To Dave: when you said, "...probably you will exit the interview early", can you give an idea how long a duration could be considered as an 'early' exit?

thnks.

I have attended the selection process of qualcomm. It was weird , a little bit to say . They tested on the basic programming stuff and some of the embedded systems concepts.
After the interview , i mailed the HR guys for the feedback . There was no response from them. 2 weeks later i called the HR , who informed me that they looking for professionals who have working experience in their domain.
Follow up with the HR for feedback is very tiresome.
