Priority inversion is a situation in which a low-priority task executes while a higher priority task waits on it due to resource contentions.

To solve the priority inversion issue, priority inheritance or priority ceiling protocol can be used. However, priority inheritance protocol does not eliminate deadlock.

I'm adding couple of lines to the first answer..as he said.. priority inversion is situation where a low priority thread hold the lock that a high priority thread is blocked on, the thread with the low priority will temporarily inherit the priority of the higher priority thread...upon releasing the lock, the thread will revert to its original priority...
