a superblock, contains a magic number (19 54 01 19 or 01 19 54 for UFS)identifying this as a UFS filesystem, and some other vital numbers describing this filesystem's geometry and statistics like size and status and behavioral tuning parameters, informatioon about other metadata structures. Linux also maintains multiple redundant copies of the superblock in every file system.

validates inode for new file which provided by kernel and contains global variables of filesystem
