xyz Interview Question

I don't think language matters for most for the companies ( including google ) if you are going for software engineering role. It's about solving problems efficiently with optimal runtime. If you can write efficient algorithm to solve a problem, you can refer language documentation or peer reviewer can help you with language issues initially.
My suggestion is to not tie how you see yourself as a developer to any one technology. Don't be a Python developer OR a java developer. Be a developer. Focus on building the fundamentals and intuition needed to pick up any language quickly. Know the basics of a couple languages -- a good starting set might be Java, Python, and C.
To be good enough to work at Google, you should be good enough to learn any language quickly.
The big companies don't really care about the language. In fact, python is a very good choice to write with in interviews due to its brevity. If you want to aim for the absolute top of the top tier companies (google or facebook), it's good to know about other languages though. In an interview I was, my knowledge of lower level languages gave me a bunch to talk about since the interviewer was working with low level stuff.
