google.com will be resolved using dns
gethotbyname() resolves into it's ip address ..ex..if no dns then get ip from /etc/hosts
if the IP address is locally connected(local subnet or directly) to the system then packets will be send to the system otherwise IP layer will find the route available to the destination
before sending the packet to the destination..ARP will find the physical address corresponding to the logical IP address by sending the ARP request
