Let X be vertical distance, Y be Horizontal Distance between two points, then number of possible way to reach from Point-1 to point-2 is

(x+y)!
---------
 x! * y!

will it work for 3 x 3? I want to determine possible paths from (2,0) to (0,2) elements.
vertical & horizontal distances are 2. According to above formula there are maximum 6 paths. But i see more ways to reach (0,2) from (2,0) (around 9 ways)

The solution given by shreyas above is wrong.
He is just look for the shortest distances.
