Why don't e just split the Array wherever we find a -ve number and just use backtracking on the splited arrays to get their respective highest sum then combine the result.

2. -ve numbers will give you freedom to chose any pattern in the next array since present array and next one will have always one element in between (-ve number we omitted) .
