- 4 Answers Phone screen vs. face-to-face
Hi,
- Barry Fruitman March 16, 2013
It would be nice if sample questions could be tagged as phone screen or face-to-face interview. There is considerable difference between the two so it would make easier to prepare for the type of interview we are facing.
Thanks,

Hi all,
- rob2505 March 14, 2013
I'd need an advice.
I have two interview processes in course with IBM.
The office is the same (same location) but the roles are different (one is Software engineer and the other is c developer).
I've done the first interview of the first process (I'm waiting the response) while the other is just started (We have only arranged a date for the interview).
I don't know if they know that I have two interview processes in course.
Do you think that I should say it to them? Or maybe I just shouldn't care because there isn't anything of strange in this situation.
Thank you very much.| Flag | PURGE - 1 Answer Questions deleted by OP?
I have noticed that a couple of questions have been deleted. (One was a very new maximum product sub-array question, and one was a relatively new zig-zag of a 1-D array, which has a nice answer by showell).
- Loler March 10, 2013
It seems unlikely that the mods are deleting those, as those seemed like valid questions.
Is it possible that the OP deleted them after getting an answer? (Possibly homework and didn't want to get caught...).
Is there are a way to get back the questions (and the answers)? Prevent such things from happening in the future? (Eg. Don't allow a delete of a question after 2-3 answers have been posted).| Flag | PURGE - 4 Answers Questions about facebook interview
Hi,
- Azy March 09, 2013
I'm french and i'm gonna have some phone interview. I was asked if I would prefer it to happen on phone or skype, and I chose Skype. I am a little bit freaked out because of my english level (not so good) and I have few questions :
Do we have written questions or they are just asked by phone/skype ?
And how does the facebook interview take place ? We have something like 40 minutes, but is the interviewer always speaking? What kind of questions could I be asked for a facebook interview, given that I applied for a software engineer position (just graduated), and C++ as my strongest language?
Thank you a lot| Flag | PURGE - 2 Answers Best strategy to distribute number into groups evenly
You have two list of integer number A={1,3,60,24} and B={14,54,3}, the order and list length is undetermined. What is the best strategy to put numbers in A into B so that the variance of result in B is as balanced as possible. You do not have to put all numbers in A into B if there is no space available. But you have to put number if there is space available

I am thinking of applying Branch and Bound, and however, I am not sure how to find a prune condition such as calculating variance of the sub-problem(not completely filled) to tell which branch to cut?
Any ideas?| Flag | PURGE - 1 Answer Google Phone Interview - Number of Questions
So I had 2 phone interviews a few days back.
- iron_maiden87 March 06, 2013
I was wondering about your experience on the number of questions per interview.
I got 1 math + 2 programming questions for Interview 1, and 3 data structures questions for Interview 2 (over ~40 minutes each interview, disregarding the resume part).
Is the number of questions average in your experience?

a , b , c
a connects to b,c
b connects to a,c
c connects to a,b
like wise if a,b,c,d is given
a connects to b,c,d
b connects to a,c,d
c connects to a,b,d
d connects to a,b,c
given n nodes all n nodes connects to all other nodes except self connect means 'a' dont connect with 'a'. shortly all nodes has 'n-1' connection with other nodes

Is it okay to look at your notes regarding behavioral questions during the interview?
- vmayer99 March 06, 2013
Before my interview I had written down some notes on answers to common behavioral questions (the ones that basically ask me to dig up something from my history). During the interview I got asked something that was in my notes, and I think I would've answered the question better had I glanced at them, but I decided not to. If they can serve to refresh your memory, maybe it doesn't hurt? Or perhaps it depends on the question?| Flag | PURGE - 3 Answers whiteboard
So, I did my first interview in many years yesterday. I got a little freaked out by the white board and asked to write code on paper, and they were cool with that (invited me back too). But does this look bad to some/all companies? Is there a preference for candidates who do their code on the whiteboard?
- vmayer99 March 05, 2013| Flag | PURGE - 1 Answer Improving basics
Hey folks
- abhinav March 04, 2013
I was interviewed yesterday for a programming/web-development profile.
I cleared 3 rounds but was rejected in the last round(the programming round).
The question I was asked was a basic one:implement get_max function in a stack. Though I did it,the time complexity was not good,O(n). I understood how to do it later but I wanted to know how I can improve upon my basics.
I have solved a lot of problems on Codechef/SPOJ but never encountered such a problem where my basics were questioned(Correct me if I'm wrong).
Codechef/SPOJ was more of implementing the STL libraries/puzzle solving/number theory. I hardly remember when I last implemented a stack/queue/priority queue/tree from scratch without using libraries.
How do I get my basics in place??
I would appreciate frank opinions and also resources/ opinions where people faced the same problem and how they tackled it.
Thanks a lot| Flag | PURGE - 3 Answers How may days do you have to wait after failing Google phone interview
Recently I had a Google phone screen. Even though I solved the coding question it was not on their expected level. So I was told, sorry, try again later.
