Hello,Below mentioned is my effort which works when the user enters 3 as the number wanted and 2 as the number that needs to be inserted.

public class Loop {

    public static void main(String[] args) {

        ArrayList array = new ArrayList();
        int[] br = new int[10];
        int i=0;
        Scanner scanner = new Scanner(;
        System.out.println("enter the number you wanted ");
        int input_val = scanner.nextInt();
        System.out.println("Please choose the number below the given range");
        int chosen_num = scanner.nextInt();
        if (chosen_num <= input_val) {
            switch (chosen_num) {
                case 1:
                    br[i] = chosen_num;
                    br[chosen_num + 1] = chosen_num;

                case 2:
                    br[i] = chosen_num;
                    br[chosen_num + 1] = chosen_num;
              //  case 3:
                //    br[0] = chosen_num;
                  //  for()
                    //br[chosen_num + 1] = chosen_num;
                   // break;
                    System.out.println("invalid month");

        } else {
